RULES & GUIDELINESFOR LIGHT POLE DECORATING:

  • All businesses, groups or families must register to participate in the contest.
  • Light poles will be assigned on a first come-first serve basis. * 2022 Participants will receive the right of refusal for the previous space first.
  • Placement depends on how many participants sign up and their proximity to each other.
  • You will receive an email with a map showing your assigned Light Pole before the Decorating Start Date (11/24/23).
  • Decorations must have a holiday or winter theme/motif.
  • All decorations must be secured with zip ties, string, twine, thin wire, etc. NO TAPE or anything that will damage the light poles! Materials should be weather resistant. Absolutely no permanent alteration of the light pole is permitted.
    • Anyone using tape or materials that will damage light poles will be removed from voting.
  • Lights and electrical cords used in decorating must be designated as “for outdoor use” and be LED lights – otherwise the light pole breaker will eventually pop and your light post will not be lite up the entire month.
  • All decorations and maintenance of poles will be the responsibility of the assigned business or group.
  • Decorations should only be on light pole and not impede on sidewalk, should not cover street signage or lights, or include any offensive or inappropriate statements.
  • No Political Speech of any kind. City reserves the right to remove political or offensive messages, decorations, etc.
  • These light poles are intended for holiday display and are no meant to be a giant advertisement. While business or organizational information can be shared, please be considerate in your messaging and amount of self promotion.
  • A tag with a QR Code for voting will be placed on every decorated light pole.
  • All decorations left on light poles after January 6, 2024 will be removed and disposed of.
  • All lights used MUST be OUTDOOR LED lights. Anything other than outdoor led may cause fuse to blow and we can not guarantee your light pole will be illuminated again.

If your light pole has vertical banner brackets, you may put up your own banner. The dimensions for banners are listed below. *Again, these are meant for decoration not billboards so be considerate in your messaging and self promotion.

  • Size: All vertical banners are to be a nominal dimension of 18 inches wide (±1/2 inch). Length must be an actual dimension of 36 inches. This is measured with the banner lying flat and includes the finished hems. The length shall not be achieved by means of loop, cords, ties, or any other similar method.
  • Hems: Top and bottom hems are to be 2 ½ inches wide and open at both ends. The hem stitching is to be double-needle stitching at both the top and bottom hems using #138 polyester or nylon bonded threads in colors that match the fabric color unless otherwise specified.
  • Grommets: A solid brass number two (#2) spur grommet is to be placed at the inner edges of the banner at both the top and bottom with the center of the grommet within 1 inch of the side edge. The top grommet is to be placed on top of the double-needle stitching.
