Waterloo Recreation Area

Waterloo Recreation Area is the largest state park in the lower peninsula of Michigan, and right in our own back yard. The huge park extends over three counties and has more than 20,000 acres of forests, prairies, wetlands, glacial hills, bogs, and the diverse natural habitats of countless species of plants, trees, mammals, amphibians, reptiles, waterfowl and birds including the prehistoric sandhill crane.

Visitors to Waterloo Recreation area can enjoy modern and rustic campgrounds, equestrian campgrounds and trails, swimming beach, picnic sites, fishing lakes, boat launches, 12 miles of interpretive nature trails, 47 miles of hiking trails, and fun programs and events at the Gerald E. Eddy Discovery Center.
