2024 Hometown Holiday | Light Parade Entry Application

Parade Date: Saturday, December 7th. 6pm Parade Lineup Time: NO Later than 5pm at Chelsea State Bank - 1010 S Main St All entries must be reviewed and approved by the Parade Committee prior to participation in the parade. Drivers of motorized vehicles in the parade MUST be 18 years old or older and provide proof of a valid driver's license and insurance with form. Applications must be received by November 29, 2024. ***NOTE - the parade ends at E MIDDLE ST. All vehicles, floats etc. MUST be able to turn down E MIDDLE ST. to exit the parade route. Absolutely NO floats, vehicles or parade participants will be allowed to cross the railroad tracks. Absolutely NO Santas or Santa hats are to be worn by participants. We have invited the "real" Santa to close the parade as we have done in years past.

Rules and Regulations Please read the following instructions before completing and returning your parade application .1. ALL entries must have lights on them, including walking groups. 2. There will be no more than 50 entries. Entries will be evaluated for acceptance based on theme use, entertainment value and use of lights (clear and colored). 3. Animal entries will be accepted into the parade as long as all animals are leashed or harnessed. If you have a vehicle accompanying your animals, you MUST have lights on the vehicle, as well as the animals. 4. No unit will be admitted into the parade that has not been pre-approved. 5. The Hometown Holiday Committee reserves the right to reject any entry that is not in good taste, inappropriate, or is not in the best interest of the parade. 6. Entries depicting a political organization, candidate, or controversial issue will not be considered. 7. Maximum height for entries is 12.5 feet from the ground. Maximum width is 8.5 feet. All participants must be able to exit the parade route at E Middle St. Absolutely NO participants will be allowed to cross the railroad tracks. 8. All units are required to maintain forward motion at all times. No maneuvers are allowed that slows the forward movement of the parade. Having walking volunteers to ensure vehicle safety is highly encouraged. 9. All entries should be properly identified with signs or banners with the organization’s name, so spectators know who you are. A holiday message is suggested. This is not a commercial parade-- please no sales messages. 10. Drivers of motorized vehicles must be 18 years of age and have a valid drivers license. Vehicle registration and proof of insurance required. The Chamber must receive a copy of the driver’s license and proof of insurance one week prior to the parade day. 11. Sirens and Horns --- please limit the use of them due to units that may have music and in keeping with the holiday ambience. 12. Only one powered vehicle will be permitted for each entry. 13. Walkers must be able to keep up with the pace and length of the parade. 14. Equestrian and animal units must provide their own accompanying clean-up personnel and equipment. Please make sure the horses have the proper shoes. If you have a vehicle, carriage, etc., it MUST have lights on it to be permitted in the parade. 15. All parade participants are required to conduct themselves in such a manner as not to infringe on the rights of those living in and along the staging areas and parade route. NO solicitation is allowed during the event. 16. Applications must be received at the Chelsea Area Chamber of Commerce office. 17. No Santa or Mrs. Claus please. We have invited the “real” Santa! 18. ABSOLUTELY No throwing of items (candy, toys, etc.) from floats. People walking with the float may HAND items out to the spectators. Violators will be banned from future participation.
