Chelsea Area Historical Society Growing up in Chelsea series
The Chelsea Area Historical Society is proud to bring you the second evening in our Growing Up in Chelsea series — and this one feels like a visit with old friends.
Our host for the night is none other than Chelsea’s own Linda Meloche. In a program called “Speaking of Pleasantville,” Linda sits down for a relaxed conversation with three women who grew up right here in the 1950s and ’60s: Jan Bernath, Laurie Gravely, and Angie Smith.
With Linda’s gentle prompting, the stories flow back to a time when Berg’s Drugstore was downtown, Merkel’s sold dynamite, trains still stopped at the depot on their way to Chicago or Detroit, and you could shop for a new car at three different dealerships right downtown.
Join us for a cozy, memory-filled evening at the historic Train Depot, 125 Jackson Street in Chelsea, on January 5, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. Admission is $10 for non-members, and as always, members get in free. (And yes — it really does pay to be a member.)
We hope to see you there.
