2024 USA Radio Orienteering Championship

The 2024 International Amateur Radio Union (IARU) Region 2 and American Radio Relay League (ARRL) USA Radio Orienteering Championship will be held in natural areas surrounding Chelsea,  Dexter, Pinckney, and Brighton, Michigan areas October 5th through the 13th, 2024.

Also known as “Amateur Radio Direction Finding” (ARDF), the sport of radio orienteering combines the activities of orienteering (navigation racing) with radio transmitter hunting to present competitors with an exciting physical and mental challenge!  Competitors hunt down multiple transmitters hidden in the woods by using a radio receiver and map.  The sport has direct application to search & rescue, animal tracking, spectrum management, law enforcement, military and multiple other important activities.

Everyone is welcome to compete from beginners to experts!  There will be a few training and practice days where you can help with getting started in the sport, and there will be 4 days of national / international competition for all age classes.  Several social events will also be included during the week.  Registration and entry fees are required.

5-6 Oct: Training camp

7 Oct:  Cultural outing

8-9 Oct:  Practice days + Information meeting + informal dinner

10-13 Oct:  Championship races (Sprint, Foxoring, 144 MHz Classic, 3.5 MHz Classic) + a Search and Rescue distress beacon exhibition contest (12 Oct).
