Forest Bathing at Michigan Friends Center forest
Forest Bathing on Saturday from 1 pm to about 2:15 pm:
Seeking solace in nature has been a part of Japanese culture for centuries. This practice was formalized as shinrin-yoku (Forest Bathing) by the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries in 1982. The purpose was to offer an eco-antidote to tech-boom burnout and to inspire residents to reconnect with and protect Japan’s forests.
Join Stacy Stephens to immerse yourself in the Quaker-owned forest using all five senses. Forest bathing is not a hike but a sequence of activities in nature to facilitate deep connections with ourselves and our surroundings. Forest bathing is proven to decrease stress, improve focus and creativity, and produce a feeling of ease and well-being.
