Library Hosts Comedy Showcase starting June 16
The 3rd Annual Comedy Showcase kicks off Thursday, June 16 at 6:30pm in Katie’s Korner on the library lawn. This four-week series takes place on Thursday nights through July 7 as part of Sounds and Sights on Thursday nights. The library is partnering with the Ann Arbor Comedy Showcase for a third year to select first rate comedians who have strong performance history and humor to share.
Enjoy top comedians and energetic acts right in your backyard for free. Headliners will be preceded by two opening acts. Join us June 16, 23, 30, and July 7 for an all star stand-up comedy performance. All performances take place on Thursdays at 6:30pm in Katie’s Korner, located on the library lawn. June 16 | Dobie Maxwell
Dobie has shared a stage with some of the top comics in the country including Jay Leno, Jerry Seinfeld, Drew Carey, Rosie O’Donnell, Tim Allen, and George Carlin and has appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show. Don’t miss this high energy comic who is fast becoming an all-time favorite!
June 23 | Dan Grueter
Dan is one of the fastest rising young stars on the comedy horizon. Packing an excellent stage presence with impeccable timing, Dan has become one of the most requested comedians on the comedy circuit. He’s quick, he’s clean and he’s just darn funny.
June 30 | Mark Knope
Mark’s love for performing was evident at a very early age. He got his start in professional comedy at an open-mic night at the New Chinatown restaurant in Albuquerque back in March of ’86! He honed his comedic skills in places like Houston and San Francisco before finally ditching his “day job” in ’88.
July 7 | Dan DeCapua
Dan has performed his unique brand of comedy all across the country from colleges and cruise ships to comedy clubs and festivals. Dan’s humor is clean, clever and always appealing. Marriage, raising kids and video games are among some of the topics he explores in his act and he’s sure to leave you wanting more.
