It’s Healthy Restaurant Week in Chelsea

As part of the Chelsea Wellness Foundation’s 5 Healthy Towns program, several Chelsea, Michigan restaurants are offering ‘5H’ entrees that highlight delicious, healthy eating. Restaurants will prepare meals with special attention to ingredients, preparation method, serving size and sodium content. What a great week to go out for a bite to eat with friends!

Participating restaurants’ 5H choices include a variety of options from breakfast to dinner, for both children and adults. Click the name of the restaurant for location and additional information.

Breakaway

Grilled Chicken Breast served on whole grain bread, with vegetables and cottage cheese.
Michigan Orchard Salad – A grilled chicken breast, Michigan dried cherries, apples, bleu cheese crumbles, pine nuts and green onions

Back to the Roots

Pumpkin Soup made with whole pumpkins, garlic, ginger, coconut milk, half n half, bananas, fresh herbs and spices and topped with pumpkin seeds.
Whole Bran Muffins – Pumpkins, zucchini, yellow squash, wheat bran
Phoenix Roll – Seaweed salad, red pepper and avocado on a bed of rice, topped with Ahi tuna and yellowtail tuna.

Cleary’s Pub

Spinach Lasagna – made with spinach, red wine, low sodium tomato sauce, skim milk ricotta and mozzarella cheeses.  Served with a salad.
Turkey Burger – Grilled turkey burger topped with house made cranberry chutney on a toasted multi-grain ciabatta.  Served with vegetable of the day.
Shrimp Fajitas – Sauteed mixture of lime juice, onions, garlic, cilantro, tomatoes, jalepenos and shrimp.  Served with a whole wheat shell and topped with a yogurt and scallion sauce.  Served with a salad.

The Common Grill

Pasta Primavera – Whole wheat fettuccine served with fresh garden vegetables, and a low fat olive oil, garlic and herb sauce.  Served with a house salad.
Sweet Potato Fries will be offered as an alternative to regular fries.
Kids meals will include garden vegetables instead of french fries.

Ellie’s

Breakfast Bagel – Whole grain bagel, toasted, topped with Swiss Cheese and a veggie omelet filling made with farm fresh eggs or egg beaters, baby spinach and onion.  Add a low fat version of Awesome Sauce or chopped tomatos and bell peppers at no extra charge.  Served with fresh fruit.
Spicy Buffalo Chicken Wrap – Grilled chicken breast strips in a spicy marinade.  Served chilled in a whole wheat wrap with lettuce, onion and a light blue cheese sauce.  Served with fresh fruit.
Italian Vegetable Grinder – Chilled artichoke hearts, tomato, red onion, pepperoncini and romaine plus a house made balsamic vinaigrette served on our house made fat free grinder bun with a bit of melted provolone.

Mike’s Deli

The Dusseldorf – Turkey, lettuce, tomato, onion, green and banana peppers and hot mustard, all inside a spinach wrap.  The sandwich will be grilled without butter.

McDonald’s

Premium salads and fruit & maple oatmeal will be featured at McDonald’s in Chelsea.  They will also be promoting their new menu board which reflects the calorie count of all menu items.

Zou Zou’s Cafe

Malibu Chicken Sandwich – Southwest style baked chicken breast, roasted red peppers, guacamole and red onions on a tomato lawash.  Ask for sandwich sauce on the side.
Lentil Soup – Red Lentils, carrots, celery, onion and garlic in a low-sodium vegetable broth.
Cherry Chicken Salad – Housemade chicken salad (prepared with low fat mayo) served on a bed of romaine lettuce with tomatoes, cucumbers and red onions.
