Global Marketplace fair trade store returns to Main St.

The Global Marketplace is moving back on to Main Street in downtown Chelsea, Michigan. The new location is located at street level at 105 South Main St., next door to Reed’s Barbering and Vogel’s & Foster’s clothing store.

“We have been looking to find our way back onto Main Street for a while now, waiting until we could find just the right space,” said Kevin Frahm, store owner. “As I navigate my way through my sixth decade on this planet, I was looking to downsize my footprint while upsizing fair trade offerings to the Chelsea community and beyond,” he said. “The option of showcasing our online offerings in this location, as well as maintaining a presence in the vibrant community was a no-brainer,” Frahm added.

Global Marketplace’s new location on Main St. will open Oct. 28, and have hours on Mondays through Saturdays from 12-7 p.m., and Sundays from 12-5 p.m. Beginning Nov. 1 and through the end of the year, the store at 115 West Middle Street will remain open on Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. with discounted prices on select products.

When Global Marketplace opens its new location, customers will discover an in-store kiosk where they can visit an online fair trade website that contains more than 1,500 fair trade items. Frahm says that both store locations will participate in Wine, Women and Shopping on Nov. 12 with fair trade chocolate treats, coffee, spicy hot cocoa, chair massages, henna tattoos and our first ever Alpaca-Palooza and lots of discounts.
